In a nutshell, I’m a writer, a mother of three small humans. I’m a bit of a tomboy, a photographer, a damn hippy. Occasionally, I am a dinosaur.
I can sing “Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star” entirely in puppy or a myriad of other animal voices, although I must admit singing in elephant makes my lips numb.
I started this blog with the birth of my first child in March 2002, the birth of my motherhood. My parenting philosophy is a hodge podge of my own history, stories of friends’ parenting challenges, a whole lot of reading, and just jumping into the fire. Along the way, I’ve shifted paradigms, pissed off relatives and little old ladies, and become a better, more grounded human being. I blame my kids and my amazing spouse entirely.
I studied English and grammar at the University of West Florida, almost earning my MA if not for the thesis-that-would-never-get-written. I received my B.S. in Journalism from the University of Florida and worked in the publishing /marketing/editing industry for most of my career.
I’ve spent the past 8+ years gestating, birthing, nursing, and, along with my husband, Allen, raising my small army of clones, who will take over the world someday with perfect grammar, a love for comic books, and the ability to diagram even compound-complex sentences of great size.
