Beware the red-headed second child

The great hair pulling phenomenon of August, September, and early October has resulted in my younger child’s looking a bit like she’s undergoing chemo. Or, hey did anyone see that afterschool special about the family who drank milk from cows that had been fed rat killer? Mommy couldn’t figure out why Timmy’s hair was coming out in patches. Yeah, good TV.

I brought L to the hairstylist, where she sat on my lap (the child, not the hairstylist, you filthy pig) and got shorn. I asked for a pixie cut. So, she looks freakin’ adorable. And the hairs left are not long enough for her to curl around her fingers and yank out! Yay!

I’m not sure if it’s the length or what, but she now looks like a redhead. And maybe she’s feeling better about herself, or maybe it’s just fate kicking me in the ass for having such an easy child my first time around, but Laurel is now ACTING like a redhead. It’s adorable if you’re a bystander and just looking on at the store while she screams like a banshee because she must have the brown bear.

When she just wakes up, her hair is perfect and just a little ruffled, and she has this beatific look on her face. She is the sweetest li’l angel you’ve ever seen, wanting snuggles and giggling prettily. And when something gets between her and what she wants, she is a fiery headed frothing-at-the-mouth she devil.

Life with Laurel will never be boring.

I love her hair! I'm a sucker for short hair on kids, and she looks particularly cute. :)
